~ Introduction to Light Magic ~

Merle: Young wizard, come quick! Lady Nightstar herself awaits for you with me in Ravenwood.
Grandmother Raven: Young Wizard. It’s been sometime since we last spoke with one another. I’ve heard of your adventures in Khrysalis. I’m glad you prevailed over Morganthe. But I’m also terrified of the creature you unleashed from the Black Pit. You see, long, long ago. When the Creator brought Bartleby into existence and then myself to tend to Bartleby. The Creator also created Old Cob. A Spider of Darkness to balance the Light. He and I never got along that well. But I still loved him like the brother he was. But even our love for each other wasn’t enough to dispel our hatred. And so in the night sky we fought. Darkness against Light. Our two powers creating a force so terrifying that it caused the Titans to go mad and fight against each other.

Bartleby: These two powers are the shadows of dreams and the light of the stars. These two powers are so powerful that it’s never been thought possible that anyone could master them both without being destroyed.

Grandmother Raven: But you’ve dispelled all those disbeliefs. You wizard, are marked by both Spider and myself. You wizard are the child of the Grand Prophecy foretold by the Creator. You can master both Shadow and Light. And that’s why I’ve called you here.

Ambrose: Child, it’s been so long since you first enrolled here at Ravenwood. I saw your potential from the start. But I never expected that you’d become a wizard of such stature. Your professors and I are extremely proud of you. And with that, we’ve decided as a whole to train you in the art of Light magic. We hope you can utilize it to counter the forces of Shadow and to stop Old Cob before it’s too late. Please, listen well as Lady Nightstar teaches you about the foundations of Light magic.

Grandmother Raven: Yes, please. Take Ambrose’s advice to an account. And now wizard. I’d like you to say goodbye to your professors and Ravenwood. Because it’s time to journey to the Radiance Isle at the apex of the Spiral. Once you’re ready meet me within the Tower of Light which floats atop Bartleby’s leaves. To reach there simply speak the Bartleby and he’ll teleport you there.

Upon entering the Tower of Light…

Grandmother Raven: Welcome Wizard! This is the Tower of Light.

((The Tower of Light is made of clear crystal. From the ceiling rays of light illuminate the whole room. In the centre of the tower a small crystal hovers slightly above a small pond carved into the crystal flooring. Circling around are the worlds of the Spiral. Towards the walls of the Tower vines and glowing flowers grow cover wooden bookcases that hold magical artifacts and books. And from where the player stands a small foyer is carved into the wall. A glowing portal rising from the crystal floor. In the centre of the room, left of the crystal Grandmother Raven stands.))

Grandmother Raven: This tower was once a blighted ruin from a civilization unknown. But upon restoring it I made it the home of Light magic. This crystal here will allow travel to the Isle of Radiance. If you’re ready walk up to it and touch it.

Upon touching the Crystal…

Narrator: You’ve arrived at the Isle but Grandmother Raven appears to be nowhere. But then suddenly you hear her voice in your head.

Grandmother Raven: This is the Isle of Radiance. It’s nothing right now, just fragments of earth from the First World that float high above the Spiral. Ruins of crystal lay about as you can see. But just because it looks damaged and useless doesn’t mean you can’t learn from it. Walk up to one of the ruins and touch it. Call upon the spirits that once lived here. Let their voices haunt your mind, replaying the tragedies that occurred here.

Remnant: Before the First World...before anything...a civilization strong rose high above the blank skies. We lives happily...together...we lived underneath the...magic tree. The magic tree...she was our queen...we listened to her stories...but then….but then….

Narrator: The voice in your head seems to die out. Leaving you to wonder what the remnant was going to say. Perhaps you should try another one of the ruins?

Remnant: ...a cataclysm of light and darkness rained down….rained down upon our kingdom. A creature of eight legs and two wings… a creature that appeared to be Raven and Spider unleashed a plague upon us…

Remnant: ...a plague of chaos killed us all...our queen withered and died...and the monstrous thing tore our kingdom apart...it shattered our world and used its thread to weave a web….
Grandmother Raven: You’ve learned a lot, haven’t you? Interact with the last three ruins to hear the last part of this realm’s history.

Remnant: ...a web of chaos, it strung the ruins together forging a sphere. It floated below our fragmented realm. Growing in size...we watched as ghosts as what was once our home become something new...something odd….we watched as the First World was born.

Remnant: ….our home had changed from a place of golden cities to a place where nothing existed…

Remnant: ...yes wizard…. the First World was born...born by Raven and Spider...the Creator you’ve been told of was your grandmother….your grandmother was the tree. She conjured the beast to expand our kingdom further into the sky...but it betrayed us. Plunging El Dorado into darkness and birthing Raven and Spider. And when she died. Her spirit was reincarnated as Bartleby. And you...her children were thrown far off into a world away from magic….this is where you were born….

Grandmother Raven: Now you see child...this place is but a fragment of an old world called El Dorado. Cob...myself...we were a flawed creation of your grandmother. But...during the process of Cob and I separating from each other we caused a ripple in the sky. Creating the stars, sun, and moon. And at the same time Cob was corrupted with anger and hate meanwhile I was afflicted with the opposite of hate and anger.

Wizard, you’ve learned much from these ruins. And these once good people deserve a rest. Please, go to the center of the fragment and look upon the root that once were your grandmother’s. At it’s end is a dormant anvil and hammer. Crafted from gold. I bet if you interact with it you can restore some of the power that the anvil and maybe you can restore this ruined city.

Narrator: You touch the anvil and suddenly power flows through it. Rippling off of the hammer waves of light touch the ruins and the dead earth. Flowers suddenly begin to bloom and the ruins restore themselves.

Grandmother Raven: Excellent young wizard! This city looks brand new. And it seems to me that the ghosts are pleased. I think it’s time to go now. Please step through the portal.

Grandmother Raven: You’re back, grand. Now that you’ve learned of the dark history I think it’s time you visit the Isle of Shadow. It’s sunken in the Shadow Sea. I want you to interact with this crystal and confront whatever monsters roam about it. Once you’ve defeated the monsters retrieve a seed from the Nocturnal Chest and bring it to me.

((Upon doing that…))

Grandmother Raven: Excellent! With this seed we can plant it within the crystal and a new tree will be born. The Tree of Light!

Narrator: Grandmother Raven plants the small see in the crystal and suddenly glaring light blinds you. Once the light clears you can no longer see the crystal. It seems to have disappeared. But then the floor begins to shake and suddenly sprouting from the pond a white bark tree grows. It has eyes but they’re closed and its bare of leaves. Then… the eyelids open revealing pink wisps for eyes and the bare branches glow emitting waves of white light. Her appearance seems like the opposite of Moros’.

Nameless Tree: Wh..a. what...where am I? Who...who...am I? Who...are you?

Grandmother Raven: My name is Lady Nightstar, and this young wizard here is ((Name)). Welcome to the Spiral! I know that you must feel scared and confused about this place. So allow me to explain.
Narrator: Grandmother Raven gives a long explanation to the newcomer explaining who she is, the current threat to the Spiral, and what this tower is. Eventually she finishes.

Nameless Tree: Thank you Miss Nightstar. I’m so happy to be alive and to be able to see the Spiral. Oh! And it’s also very nice to meet you all.

Grandmother Raven: We’re glad to meet you too. And I’m sure you have many questions. But before you ask any I think we should first give you a name. How about the name Rosiline?

Nameless Tree: Ooh! That name sounds lovely!

Grandmother Raven: I’m glad you like it Rosiline.

Grandmother Raven: Young wizard, while I talk with Rosiline how about you look around the tower for one of my books on light magic? Make sure to read it thoroughly.

Narrator: You find a book of interest and read it from front to back. It takes a while but by the time you finish it seems that Grandmother Raven and Rosiline have finished talking. You should probably go talk to Grandmother Raven and tell her what you’ve learned.

Grandmother Raven: You learned all that? Good, good. Now that you have some basic knowledge on Light magic I think it’s time you trained a Light magic spell. Rosiline here will assist you with that.

Rosiline: Hi wizard.
Narrator: Rosiline gives a gleeful smile towards you.
Rosiline: Grandmother Raven has taught me all of the Light magic spells she knows and I think it’s time that you should learn some too. To start off, here. Take this spell.
Narrator: Rosiline teaches you a powerful spell called Radiance.

Grandmother Raven: Excellent! You’ve learned the spell Radiance? With it you’ll become even stronger in battle, I just know it. For now I need to fix this Tower up a bit more. In the meantime you should go visit Merle. I’m sure he has some knowledge as to the whereabouts of Old Cob.
